I know the decision to have Julian's parents have him augmented was made on the fly but imo its pretty obvious from early on that Julian has Family Issues because he avoids talking about his family like the plague and I think they should've incorporated this into the Julian and Sisko dynamic right from early on because I think it would've made for some really compelling stories and moments and could've set up a REALLY interesting Julian and Jake dynamic which they kinda started to do but never fully went for

Why am I spending so much time staring at the show's backgrounds to talk about doors? Listen. Don't worry about it.

Rambling on about Stan's control over his mindscape made me curious so I skimmed over some episodes to check out a certain detail...

You can see that the door Stan conjured up during his deal with Bill has a diamond window and to me, there's only one door in the Shack comes to mind.

And that makes sense! During the deal with Bill, Stan recreated the living room where he feels most at home and the most himself, and the porch door is the entrance to the home part of the Shack where he doesn't have to put up the Mr Mystery front

But the thing is; the handle isn't quite right and its consistently the same throughout the series, except...

When Stan first arrived in Gravity Falls and reunited with Ford.

Overall, the diamond door appears pretty prominently in Stan's mindscape:

It acts as entrance to the main section of his mindscape

It's the Dipper memory door, where Memory!Stan has his own flashbacks (with the doors in the hall opening up by themselves as Stan talks about each memory) and was able interact with Dipper to explain how the mindscape works

And it's his Hope door (aka where he was still hoping that he could save Ford)

(Of course not all of the diamond doors were important. Unless you think him being stuck in stocks all afternoon counts-- wait whaddya mean those things are actually called pillories??? and stocks are for ankles?????)

But the thing is, the porch door is made out of one entire piece and is noticeably missing that wood panel on the bottom of the Deal door... but that did remind me of something else--

The Shack door that has this panel detail is the one to the twins' room. And I doubt this is too far of a leap because this door is also made of planks and its edges seem kinda ramshackle too.

Another detail I noticed is that the Deal door seems to be greyscale on the outside but colored on the inside to match the interior. (I'm saying "seems" cos it's kinda inconsistent in the actual scene but whatever-- sometimes it's colored, sometimes it ain't!)

What I'm getting at is I think the only door in Stan's mindscape we saw before that had color inside was the Dipper memory one. (Personally, I think it's the unique case of the memory door being in the same position as where the porch door actually is, so it ends up acting as both- if that makes sense? One side has a handle, the other a door knob). But behind both of these doors, we get a pretty confident mindscape!Stan

Anyway my point is that the Deal door is a fusion of the porch door that represents both the Shack being his home and his reunion with Ford, and of the attic door representing the twins--

...or maybe a door is just a door! Who knows!

Another tidbit is his Dipper memories door being represented by a pine tree when we know they knew each other for a few days before Dipper got that hat (something something, this episode firmly establishing Dipper's zodiac symbol with Bill nicknaming him that even though the crew didn't have plans for the Zodiac at this point)

but I'm honestly surprised that the door for Ford's room wasn't used in Dreamscaperers cos look at it--

It's just so fancy!

Of course there's the elephant in the living room of "...But what about the border around the diamond window that's unique to the deal door? That sticks out a lot!" To which i say: i dunno lol

If Law ends up reuniting with the Strawhats, I hc that both he and Bepo would spend a lot of time in the aquarium bar because it’s the closest thing they have to being under the sea in the Tang again.

The Strawhats would understand this and would allow them to use the space as their own, even turning it into a temporary bedroom for them. They figure it would be easier for them to fall asleep and feel safe there because they feel more at home in the low light with the fish lazily swimming around. They remember when Law travelled with them before he would often take naps there when he thought no one was looking, clearly a bit homesick.

Their hearts ache for their allies, remembering how difficult it was to adjust after losing the Merry. The Sunny had done an amazing job of making them feel at home again and mend their broken hearts, and they hope she will be able to do the same for them.

Franky, ever the softie, cries to Robin one night about how he’s so glad he his decision for fresh food storage could give the two guys a bit of comfort. Robin nods in agreement with a soft smile and a far off look, knowing all too well what it feels like to have your home ripped away from you so suddenly and struggling to find a place that feels like it again.

I think the kids are waiting at the sun tree. They've never really done that before. Sleeping by the sun tree. But as they watched their parents and their friends disappear, with fear in their eyes, it was a day full of firsts.

Wolfe ends up running off in a sort of fit. Leona runs after him. They both feel more at home in the woods. They probably went there to calm down. Vesper, as the oldest, decided she needed to get some things in order. Just in case.

And Gwen was going to leave, sneak into her father's office, past all his traps and rigging, until she notices Vax just standing there. Staring at the seams in the bark that aren't really there. She watched him collapse, sitting crisscross on the roots.

So she stayed. She sat next to her big brother, close and leaning on him. Though, she wasn't there looking for support. She had watched his cocky, teenage attitude melt away into a panic. Vax'ildan was panicking.

"They'll be okay," she told him. "They're the heros of the realm. They'll save uncle Vax and the world and come home." She sounded so sure. He had to believe she was right.

They stay there though. For hours. It might have been the most time the pair ever spent with each other. The sun starts wane and their home turns golden and their parents aren't back yet.

Leona and Wolfe come back, their faces red and a little dirty. They hadn't even taken their leathers off. Like they were going home when they saw their siblings still waiting. They flank their siblings, Leona wrapping an arm around Vax's shoulder and Wolfe taking Gwen's hand. Also contented to wait.

The sky is purple by the time Vesper came with blankets, pillows, and large boxes from The Slayer's Cakes. She had all of her siblings favorites picked out. Trinket 's bear claws for Leona. Sun treats for Gwendolyn. Trayon's Blondies for Vax. Keyleth 's almond bark for Wolfe. And her own personal favorite Everlight-as-Air Scones. She brought enough to count as dinner. She wasn't their head of household. She was their big sister. She didn't need to make sure they ate well or went to bed on time. That wasn't her job. Not yet.

The stars were out that night for them, granting them the family time that they desperately needed. They laughed and stole each other's pastries. They danced around any subject related to parents or their aunts and uncles away. Hunting and tinkering and spying were all fair game. The twins fought, Vax'ildan rolled his eyes and they got him to smile. Gwen listened carefully. Vesper counted the hours since their parents left.

She thought the sun might rise and they'd never see them again. She thought they would have to gather their things in the morning sun and start their new lives emerging from the roots on the sun trees. She thought-

oh fuck yes baby boy NEEDS a snuggle so fuckin bad. Jay is SO motherfucking - his full name is Janasheen Lagmani Mufti btw (successor, born at nightfall, one who gives council or legal advice) - Jay is SO motherfuckin touch starved that he'll get injured on purpose just so he can feel you touch him up. After a while you start to catch onto this because you don't have the heart to tell him he's not quite as slick as he thinks he is. So OBVIOUSLY I have a medieval game OBVIOUSLY I have a jousting game the only way you're gonna get him to turn into your snuggly lil bunbun (yes he does insist you call him that after you say it once as a joke and he loses his mind) is to make him think YOU'RE really the one who needs cuddles. like of course you're feeling kinda sad and tired from all your schoolwork so of COURSE you need a big strong tough cool guy star of the tourney team to make you feel all safe and cozy. obviously it's TOTALLY for your benefit. not at all because Jay was not hugged once as a child! that's hilarious and true and totally not the reason at all! I just washed my hands that's why they're wet! no other reason!

but yeah once you actually start cuddling with him it's going to take approximately less that six seconds for him to become a total and complete velcro boyfriend. it takes longer to watch any vine in existance than it does for Jay to latch onto you like a small baby bird. he did not know that touchy feely stuff could be so... nice. especially when it's with you. he tried giving Carlos and Evie and Mal bear hugs between classes when he's away from you and it was good, but it wasn't the same. Maybe it's because Carlos still thinks he's going to get suplexed whenever Jay grabs him like that or maybe it's because Mal keeps asking if he huffed her spraypaint and that's why he's so huggy out of nowhere (Evie doesn't mind too much as long as he doesn't wrinkle her outfits or mess with her hair and makeup. she actually approves of you two and likes that you're bringing out Jay's more affectionate side. she makes a mental note to give you the friends and family discount on any future designs you order from her.) but shortly after that first time you snuggled up with Jay and had him tell you all about the video games he's been playing and about tourney practice he's full on addicted to your touch and cuddles. Coach sometimes has to pull you off your extra curriculars to give Jay hugs and kisses during practice when he cops an attitude or gets too rowdy. you're known as the Jay whisperer immediately and believe me the nickname sticks.
